Nobody should feel like they are on their own. There are many people out there who will be only too happy to listen to you and help. Some of them may be closer than you think. I get many e-mails from people who are trying to help relatives and friends. These people are concerned about their loved ones, many of them are afraid that they’re going to lose the people that they love down a path of no return.
Like I said, I have been blessed with one or two friends who almost put themselves into harms way in order to try and make me see sense, to make me see what I was doing to myself and others. It took me a long time to see that they were right and to get myself out of the misery which I was in, and I hated those people at times, but now I see how those people gave me what I needed … a good kick up the arse, snapping me out of the downward spiralling stupor that I was locked into.
To those people who feel like they want to say something … please, please say it. Say exactly what you think. You might not get the person to have that Eureka moment where they see exactly what they have been doing to themselves and to others, but you might plant the seed. Persistence is the key. Sometimes it is only with the help of somebody like you that anybody with an alcohol or drug problem can actually see what they are doing so please keep up the good work and keep trying. Alcohol detox is about one step at a time, and that first step could be your help.
I would also like to present as much information as possible about alcohol in general. Many people drink alcohol without any problems but may want information about how it might be affecting them physically. You may want to know the calorific values of different alcoholic beverages or how each can affect you in terms of weight gain. I would like to explore how alcohol affects different people, how it viewed by different people, and maybe even some of the history. There is also the question of alcohol detox from the perspective of someone who has had a bit much to drink lately, after the holiday season, a vacation, or whatever. If you have any topics you would like to see appear on the site, you can shoot me an email.
Many recovering alcoholics suffer from the after-effects of alcohol detox. Some people suffer from migraine headaches which can at times be debilitating, others find that they have put on a few pounds, a few weight loss tips should put you back on the straight and narrow.

Can ppl die from detoxing alcohol related? Quiting cold turkey?
Yes, people can die from quitting alcohol. I don’t mean to scare anyone but that’s why its so important to get medical advice before undergoing any method of quitting drinking. Each individual is different and your doctor is probably the best person to speak to regarding your particular needs. Hope it works out for you….
How many times can someone detox before they die? I have lost count the amount of times my aunt does this and she gets worse every time! We are afraid she is just going to drop one day.
It’s like asking how long is a piece of string. If your aunt is getting worse every time she goes through detox she really should be getting help to stay off alcohol altogether. The situation doesn’t sound good to me. The people who are the closest to her are those that can help the most…. and she does need lots of help!
Addiction is such a powerful thing that not only takes over the live of the alcoholic/addict, but it can cause incredible pain to the family and friends as well.
